Five on Friday

This Friday, I have decided to list five of my favorite blogs to read. Each of the favorites are on my Google Reader and I enjoy following them and reading what is new.  I have had to scale down my favorite blogs because my Reader was getting out of control.  I think I am down to 25 or so….

Grab a cup of coffee, find a cozy spot to sit and read about these amazing women and how each of them contribute to the world around them in their own way.

Enjoy and let me know what you think by leaving a comment.

Natalie Norton

I started reading this blog after a friend told me about Natalie and what was going on in her life.  She is an amazing woman of strength and faith.  At that time, her blog shared her struggles as her newborn son battled Pertussis (whooping cough).Read about Gavin at the top of her blog and prepare to be moved.  Through her tragic loss she is educating millions about the importance of vaccination.  On top of being a mom, a blogger, and a spokesperson – she is an amazing photographer!  And as if that is not enough, she live in Hawaii!! Her blog welcomes you with: Aloha! and I just love that.

The Pioneer Woman

I love this site because there is something for everyone!! Cooking, Photography, Homeschool, Baking, Life!! Go there and I am sure you will find something you will love.  I could write paragraphs about all that I have read and learned here.

Simple Mom

I want to be organized – I really do! This blog has everything for that.  There are are recipes, how to get ready for Christmas, how to stock a pantry – - you name it. For me, it is a lot like what I wrote about The Pioneer Woman.  It is packed full of information.

Life in Grace

Love.  When I first clicked on this blog I knew I would be adding it to my Google Reader.  Reading Edie’s blog is like chatting with an old friend.  She throws in humor, truth, love and knowledge and I just enjoy reading what she has to say.  As a future homeschool mom, I try to take notes and research what she is doing with her girls to prepare for what it ahead of me. I am super excited!

Mila’s Daydreams

I stumbled on this site somehow in my my reading one night and it is absolutely amazing. Adele is a mom with a new baby. While she is home on maternity leave she is capturing the beautiful moments with her sweet girl. I am not going to tell you how – but you will immediately be amazed by her incredible talent for design and creativity!!  You are going to be amazed!

Beth Daane - I LOVE it! Pioneer woman is one of my fav’s too!September 3, 2010 – 3:51 pm

Wordless Wednesday

amy - wordless- beautiful. what a fantastic photograph. Those eyes! Oh, and that little hand in the folds of dresses!September 3, 2010 – 12:10 pm

Love x 3

I L.O.V.E. this image!!!

I shared it here for my Wordless Wednesday and since it was “wordless” I could not tell the story behind the image.

Now, I can.

When these three sweet babies came to my studio with their own entourage, I knew it was going to be an event!!

There were three tiny babies, four family members and two photographers in one of the rooms at my studio.  Each baby had a family member ( mom, grandma, grandpa) to love on them and help during the session.  It. was. amazing. Color coded paci’s for each baby, tiny diapers, blankets, bottles, burp cloths, car seats and anything else you could possibly need for a 4 hour outing!!!

When the mom of these sweet baby boys called me a few weeks ago to schedule a newborn session, I was super excited – I had never photographed multiples and I knew I would need to take a crash course to make sure I was ready for a busy studio environment.  I had all of my equipment ready, my props, heater, blankets, sound machine, wipes, sanitizer….you name it….but I still felt like I could use some help.

I picked up the phone and called another photographer here in Knoxville and asked for a favor like this: HELP!!! LOL  Not really, but I did ask for help because I knew that his work spoke for itself and if anyone could help me, he could.  And that is what I love about so many of my photographer friends, both here and across the country.  We can call one another and ask for help or tips or even a camera body in an extreme emergency. It is an amazing community!!!

So, I called Jason Davis of JDavis Photography and he was happy to help.  His work with newborns is incredible. and he has photographed several multiples but never triplets – so it was new territory for both of us.   Jason attended a workshop in Nashville with Kelly Ryden early this year and his work has been even more AMAZING !!! (If you have not heard of Kelly, I would encourage you to grab a cup of coffee and get ready to enjoy some of the most beautiful images of newborns.)

The session was nearly three hours long and I think that the family had as much fun watching us as we did working with those sweet babies.

Thank you B for calling Blue Luna and a HUGE thank you Jason for your knowledge and help with this session. And an additional thanks to f32 in Knoxville for providing photographers in East Tennessee with the possibility to rent lenses. (amazing concept, right??)  I rented an incredible lens – the 24-70 2.8 for my Nikon because I do not own this …yet. (Merry Christmas??)  If you have not checked out f32, fan them on Facebook and see what the buzz is all about!!
